Religious Education Grades 1-8 Registration Form
2021 – 2022 Religious Education Program
The mission of the Immaculate Conception Parish is “to go and make disciples of all nations, using the faith tools of prayer, study, generosity and evangelization.” The Religious Education program aims to help every member of the family thrive in these four areas of faith.
This information sheet provides an overview of the Program for Grades 1-8. Please review carefully and complete the attached registration form(s) to enroll your child(ren) for the 2021-2022 school year.
Our First through Eighth Grade Religious Education program consists of:
- Weekly catechesis
- Weekly Mass attendance
- Seasonal Parish-wide activities, including Advent Retreat, Stations of the Cross, Praying the Rosary
- The IC Family Service Project
The obligation to attend weekly Mass exists for all of us. What better way to put into practice what we learn in the classroom than by actively engaging in the foundational tenets of our Faith. Families may continue to attend their Mass of preference. As a reminder our Mass times are Saturday at 4:00pm and Sunday at 7:30am, 11:00am or 5:00pm. Confessions are held on Saturday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm in the Lower Church (St. Mary’s Chapel).
All Religious Education classes for this academic school year will be held Sunday mornings from 9:45am to 10:45am. As classes fill, we will open additional sections either on Sunday morning or possibly Monday evenings at 6:00pm. Registered families will be notified as Sunday sessions fill to select an alternate.
All classes will be held in the former ICS Middle School, 119 Washington Street - classes tentatively begin on Sunday, September 19, 2021. A calendar will be emailed to families in August.
On the first day of class, students will receive a Mass Participation work booklet. This will enable them to keep track of Mass attendance and other planned activities throughout the year. They should be signed weekly by the Priest at the end of Mass. If the booklet is accidentally left at home, a signed bulletin may be attached and then submitted to the Catechist.
Religious Education Class Time All slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis for space availability. If your first choice is full, we will contact you to offer an alternate date or to place your name on a waiting list. You will be notified of your child’s assigned class time by August 14. We cannot stress strongly enough the importance of registering early for the best selection of availability as our space is limited.
