Lenten Giving Program
Be rich in doing
good.
Be generous and willing to share.
1Timothy 6:18
Throughout the
Lenten season we will be turning our hearts to God in penance and prayer
and to our neighbors in charity by means of our almsgiving, all in
preparation for Easter.
Immaculate
Conception parish is known for its selfless care and compassion for
others, especially the poor.
There are many individuals and families who are struggling to pay
heating bills, pay their rent and provide food for their tables as well
as some who have become homeless.
Our Lenten Giving is aimed at meeting defined needs within our
own community. Your prayers
and gifts will be greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions; please contact Martha McCook, at
508-460-3401 or Father Michael, at the rectory,
508-485-0016.
First
week of Lent March 13th
Mayor’s Charity Relief Fund
Our first week of Lenten giving
will focus on the Mayor’s Charity
Relief Fund. This fund provides fuel assistance or emergency
assistance to individuals and families who are facing crisis situations
or are unable to pay for heat for their homes.
Many of these neighbors in need are on fixed incomes or dealing
with unemployment, underemployment or serious medical conditions.
Monetary gifts can be
deposited in the locked “Turkey
Box” located near the entryway to the church.
Please make checks payable to the Mayor’s Charity Relief Fund.
Your kindness will be greatly appreciated.
Second
week of Lent March 20th
Marlborough Food Pantry
Throughout the scriptures God calls us to help the poor among us. The focus of our Lenten almsgiving during the coming week is on the needs of the hungry in our own community. The Marlborough Food Pantry has asked for our help in providing one pound bags of white rice or grocery store gift cards for their clients. Please leave your donations of rice in one of the purple almsgiving boxes at the entry way to the church. Gift cards may be deposited in the locked “Turkey Box”.
Third week of Lent March 27th The Homeless Shelter
The Homeless Shelter is in great need of men’s white cotton athletic sox for their clients. Please leave your gifts in one of the purple almsgiving boxes at the entry way to the church. Thank you for your generous support of the homeless in our own community this Lenten season.
